The occasion comes first
Let the family ceremony
shape the room.
Begin with the sequence your family wants to follow. Ask the household and pandit or ritual officiant what space, seating, vessels and ceremony items they require. Customs vary between families, so the decoration brief should follow those instructions.
Identify the person coordinating the ceremony and the people arranging food, photographs and guest seating. A short programme helps those roles connect without turning the family occasion into a rushed succession of photographs and meal announcements.
If the event is at home, decide which room is used for the ceremony and what remains available for relatives to sit. At a hired hall, measure the actual ceremony and seating area rather than starting with a large stage by default.
