Bengali Wedding Catering Planning Checklist

Before choosing dishes

List every gathering that needs food: engagement, family meal, wedding or reception. Give each its own guest estimate, venue and service time. Identify the person who will approve changes.

When shaping the menu

Agree the essential family favourites, a complete vegetarian selection and the sweet course. Note allergies and exclusions separately. Consider whether repeated guests will attend more than one meal.

When confirming the venue

Check the serving area, kitchen facilities, water, power, loading access and clearance deadline. Agree seating and buffet access for older guests and allow enough room for people to move.

When comparing proposals

Match the dish list and guest numbers before comparing costs. Check staffing, crockery, buffet equipment, live counters, transport, taxes and extra-hour charges. Record anything that still needs clarification.

Before the final headcount

Confirm the deadline, minimum commitment and treatment of extra guests. Share an updated schedule for ceremonies, photographs and the meal, with the caterer and venue contact.

For the day itself

Keep the agreed menu and schedule with a designated contact. Discuss who handles timing decisions, dietary questions and any leftovers. Confirm food storage and collection arrangements with the catering team.
